Today, as I was driving back home from taking The Judge to court, I passed Coach McDaniels, my Freshmen Football coach and one of the coolest coaches I ever had, as he was waiting to cross a street downtown. I hadn’t seen him since Coach Nichols left Manual, so I felt it necessary to at least say hi. Unfortunately, I was driving too fast to yell at him, and there was nowhere close by to park. So I drove three blocks down, parked, and ran back to where I saw him, hoping to get lucky enough to have a decent conversation about pizza pie with him. By the time I reached the street corner where I saw him waiting to cross, he was gone. I’m still disappointed about it all because I don’t know when or if I’ll ever see him again.
