Centre Professors are Awesome
So my great grandma died yesterday. She was sick, and, at 92 years old, there really wasn’t much the doctors could do. The funeral is Monday morning in Louisville. I’ll probably be there all day, meaning I won’t be able to turn in the final draft of my American History paper to my professor’s office by 5:00 pm. Since I won’t have his class again until next Tuesday morning and I didn’t know the full details of the funeral plans yet, I emailed him tonight to let him know that I might not be able to turn the paper in on time. This was his response.
Seeing as how my great grandma was 92 and had lived what most would call a fulfilling life, I haven’t been too shaken up by the news. It’ll get worse when I’m back at home and around people like my grandma, her four other sisters, and some of our other family members, but it won’t be like some other funerals I’ve had to attend.
With that being said, I can’t tell you how nice it was to see this response from my professor, who’s one of my two favorites from my freshman year. This is what people mean when they said you wouldn’t just be a number at Centre.
